Pop-Locks

Anyone have experience with Pop-locks?

My S10 Blazer had pop-locks so I am familiar with how it works on a car with electric locks etc.

But now with my 59 Ranchero its all mechanical and I am not sure how diffrent the process is. The prior owner removed all the hardware, shaved the handles in prep for pop-locks but I didn't get any of the hardware when I got the car so the doors don't close.

I am unsure if to do the pop-locks most of that hardware would be replaced with modern parts?

Right now I have an extra pair of doors that I can either replace whole and skip the pop-locks or pull off the needed hardware needed for the pop-lock set-up. I was going to just replace the doors but than I noticed the glass on the existing doors is better....so its a matter of time, whats easier to replace windows or hardware and what do I really need for the pop-locks.

Since I'm new to this crew I thought I'd say hello and offer any assistance I might be able to give. I've been turning a wrench on old iron since I was a kid and through trial and error I guess I've learned a little. I bought my '55 Nash back in 1971 when all I had was an old Harley and needed a car. I'm still working on it due to the fact that I only get to drive it when I go to Arizona to visit (at least once a year). The '57 Ford I drive up here is a work in progress and even if it's not all original- I did update the drive train and it's now freeway friendly. Any help I can give anyone please feel free to ask.

For all of the rockabilly & greaser Kats n Kittens out there...

For those whove looked but never found em Good news! - I make those fantastic (and next to impossible to find!) vintage-style gas attendant caps that were popularized in films like "THE WILD ONE".

What better way to accessorize that wardrobe consisting of bucket cuff dungarees, plain white rolled sleeved tee-shit, engineer boots, and slick jacket?

They are available in a selection of colours from black, bone (a very light beige-ish colour), cream, pink and white. The caps are waterproof and have a slight stiffness to the, which allows them to be shaped when worn, but are still pliable enough to tuck away in your pocket. The bills are either in a shiny patent leather type black, or in a black matte finish.

To order a cap fit to your specifications, please contact me via my email address with your hat size or head measurements (around the head at the top of the ears to the top of the forehead) and we can go from there!

IF YOU WOULD LIKE A LOGO, NAME, OR IMAGE ADDED (with acrylic paint almost anything can be done or created for you!), there will be an additional charge on top of the initial ($65.00) price of the hat.

I can be contacted through my profile or my website at http://www.t-paul.com if youre interested!

See ya 'round,
T.Paul

1979 CADILLAC Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance

Hi guys and gals!

New to Tribe, and I've just posted some photos here which combine the two great loves in my life - Cadillacs and Shawn Harvey, singer-songwriter (roots, country & western, rock 'n' roll, rockabilly, blues etc)

The pics are of Shawn's 1979 CADILLAC Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance.
(You can see the photos in my album - OLGA, profile: http://people.tribe.net/7a934202-4375-4265-902e-c03a415d0e72 )

For some footage of the great car, take a look at the music video for Shawn's "I Travelled Along"
and listen to his great track "I Drove Up In My Cadillac Car" from his album "In The Hills"
(mp3 clip at www.shawnharvey.com - Music/Videos page)

Hope you like the pics (and Shawn's music) as much as I do!

We are a 1920s-1940s dance troupe of 5 girls. We wear cute little gold outfits and are looking to do a photo shoot to promote ourselves. We thought including a hot vintage car would be fun and have a very good professional photographer who has agreed to work with us. All we need is the car, and for dates, times to work out. We are looking for a car that is in our time period of 20's to 40's. You would get copies of the pictures and great shots of your car. Let me know if you are interested.

I'm new to tribe and was very excited when I found you guys. My current ride is my first classic. A 71' el camino, my "cruck". The outside is now complete, straight and shiny. Interior is almost where I want it. Next is the engine, a straight rebuilt 350 sits under the hood. What's the best way to beef it up without yanking the block. I purchased headers and a 50,000 volt HEI. A good start I think. Now what?

so i said i was gonna stay away from classics for awhile....that i'd dedicate the dough i lay out for playing around on them on something else. it was going pretty good. had the 61 pontiac catalina safari station wagon mothballed in a storage space....took her out about twice a month on dates....and then it happened. my friend from high school started emailing me links from ebay motors regarding classic pick up trucks he's hot for....sweet 63 GMC's in my inbox....59 chevy stepsides....they were all too clean for me though- too prissied up and chromed over. then he sent me a link to a beat up old international travel all. *soft spot*. well, that one hurt but it was a piece of shit. however, inadvertantly he gave me the notion to check up on internationals being sold at ebay. three days later i found my new ride. *sigh*. it's being shipped as i write this. it'll be my first badass truck and holy shit, it's a *monster*. a 1961 international harvester 1200 four door 4X4. and since i live in palm beach florida around a bunch of stuck up rich preppy types, i just can't wait to idle up next to a glitzy hummer in the thing with the windows rolled down, the motor growling, and some evil fucking rock jam pounding out from the stereo. *woof*!!! lol. im posting a picture in the tribe photo gallery. it's red. L8er.

so i'm new here, but i'd have to say well placed....

now considering that i'm not rich by any stretch of the meaning of that word, i'd have to say i've owned a LOT of cool classics and i'd have to admit to loving the hell out of all of 'em.

it all started with a 64 ford custom 500

and from there....

1959 oldsmobile dynamic 88

1959 volkswagon deluxe microbus (rollback sunroof packed with the little aquarium windows)

1970 datsun 1600 roadster convertible

1967 plymouth fury v.i.p.

1970 chevrolet impalla convertible (400 c/i V-8)

1973 volkswagon "thing"

1962 volkswagon factory flat bed pick up truck

and my current ride, a 1961 pontiac catalina safari station wagon.....

and then there's the ever elusive dream ride....***sigh***....the allmighty 1959 chrysler crown imperial...in, of course, the color BLACK!!!

you've gotta admit there's more than a couple cool rides in there. and for a starving artist/writer.....well, let's just say this, the MOST i spent on any one of them was $1,300 bucks!!!! scan those want ads baby, they're still out there!!!!

Information on my "new" Pontiac

Greetings all. I'm looking for some info on my car. I was just given the coolist cruise-mobile.

It's not the Charger or the Barracuda that I dreamed of, but hey, it was a gift! My friends moved to New York and they left their "baby" with me. I feel so honored!

Anyway, it's not a car I knew much about so if anyone can fill me in-I haven't had much luck on the web so far. It's a 1972 Pontiac Laurentian 350. It's a canadian made car so I guess it's kind of rare. She needs a little cosmetic TLC, but under the hood she's a beast! Anyone know anything about her?

I have a 71 Mercury Cougar, and have been searching high and low for a seatbelt to replace my old broken one. Does anybody know of a website that sells post factory seatbelts for classic cars?
